Band of the Week is back! This week we have an interview with Iranian band Overleden, which was carried out by Mahdi Dn for Mosh on the Radio!
How long have you been playing together?
Peyman: Almost two and a half years now. Since 2011.
What makes you different than the millions of other bands across the globe hoping to make it?
Peyman: Well, I think creating a metal band and recording a metal song under the difficult situation that we live in, is a great difference between us and other bands around the globe.
What is your local metal scene like?
Peyman: Well, our metal scene is growing fast. On the other side, posers are growing too, which is global and is happening all around the world. A lot of bands are forming, a lot of them are working already, but there are only a small number of them which found their own style. Lack of good recording studios is a big problem, which makes it harder for a metal band to grow over here. Another problem that a metal band faces over here is the economic problems, which affects the price of the instruments.
Do your lyrics have any concepts or themes within them?
Peyman: I write most of the band’s lyrics, and yes it’s all about human deeds and the filthy brutal things that humans have done to other humans.
What was the last album you bought?
Peyman: ‘Resolution’ from Lamb Of God.
Alireza: ‘Khaos Legion’ by Arch Enemy.
Pasha: ‘Awakened’ from As I Lay Dying.
Is there an album that inspired you to join a band?
Peyman: ‘All Hope Is Gone’ by Slipknot.
Pasha: As I Lay Dying – ‘An Ocean Between Us’.
Alireza: Black Album by Metallica.
If you could trade places with another musician for a day, who would it be and why?
Alireza: It would be Micheal Amott, because his melodies and playing style really inspires me to write my songs.
Peyman: Well I have to choose Chris Adler of Lamb of God, because he is my main inspiration on drums.
Pasha: I will choose Philip Labonte, because he is an idol to me.
Do you have any new material coming out?
Peyman: Yes, we will release a new single track in next two months.
Why should people check out your band?
Pasha: I think if people check out our band, they can see that a metal band can rise from a country like Iran. Well, it’s a hard thing to do!
Peyman: Every band needs support from people and fans to grow, so people would support us if they check us out.
Alireza: Well, I believe maybe our music and lyrics will show another side of Iranian people, against all the wrong things that people of the world think about us.
Any last words for our listeners?
Peyman: Guys, please check out our music, and please let us know what you think about them. We respect all your opinions.
Alireza: I hope that we could travel there and meet you guys, and find out more about your culture.
Pasha: Thank you for your support. I wish we could do a live performance over there.
